Maxis just dropped some exciting news for Maxis and Hotlink Postpaid users—huge data quota upgrades across the board! For Hotlink Postpaid subscribers, the high-speed data limits are getting doubled, while those on Maxis Postpaid 109 and higher are now getting the coveted unlimited data. Yes, you read that right, unlimited!
Maxis Postpaid 5G Plans Only—“9” is the magic number
Before we dive into the details, it’s important to know that these upgrades only apply to the newer Maxis Postpaid 5G plans ending with “9” (e.g. Postpaid 79, 109, 139, 169, and 199). If you’re still on the older “8” series (like Postpaid 98 or 188), it’s time to consider an upgrade because no changes are coming for those.
Hotlink Postpaid: Now up to 300GB of data!
Here’s the breakdown for Hotlink Postpaid 5G users:
- Hotlink Postpaid 45: 60GB (30GB 4G/5G + 30GB 5G) → Now 100GB (50GB 4G/5G + 50GB 5G)
- Hotlink Postpaid 60: 100GB (50GB 4G/5G + 50GB 5G) → Now 200GB (100GB 4G/5G + 100GB 5G)
- Hotlink Postpaid 70: 140GB (70GB 4G/5G + 70GB 5G) → Now 300GB (150GB 4G/5G + 150GB 5G)
That’s a whole lot of data for streaming, gaming, and everything in between!
Maxis Postpaid: Unlimited data on Postpaid 109 and above
Maxis Postpaid plans are getting a massive bump too, and if you’re on Postpaid 109 or higher, it’s your lucky day—unlimited 4G/5G data is now a reality.
- Maxis Postpaid 79: 160GB (80GB 4G/5G + 80GB 5G) → Now 300GB (4G/5G)
- Maxis Postpaid 109: 300GB (100GB 4G/5G + 200GB 5G) → Now Unlimited (4G/5G)
- Maxis Postpaid 139, 169, 199: All upgraded to Unlimited (4G/5G)
Of course, there’s a Fair Usage Policy (FUP), but Maxis isn’t putting any strict data caps on these plans. Plus, no speed caps on either 4G or 5G!
Is there any reason to pick Maxis Postpaid 139 or above?
Now that Postpaid 109 offers unlimited data, you might be wondering why anyone would go for a pricier plan. Maxis explains that the higher tiers (Postpaid 139 and up) offer better deals on devices and more supplementary line options.
For instance:
- Postpaid 109: Add one Share Line (RM48/month)
- Postpaid 139: Add two Share Lines
- Postpaid 199: Add up to four Share Lines
If you’re all about bundling devices with your plan, it’s worth noting that while device pricing is lower on the Postpaid 199 plan, you end up paying RM90/month more compared to Postpaid 109.
Gradual rollout for existing customers
If you’re an existing Maxis or Hotlink Postpaid user, don’t worry—you’ll be upgraded too! Maxis says the rollout will happen in stages between October 9 and November 5, 2024.
Interestingly, the offer is listed as a Limited Time Offer, running from October 9, 2024, to January 16, 2025. But once you upgrade during this period, you get to keep your new data quota permanently.
